Job Description
As a Healthcare Assistant at the Ballymote Community Nursing Unit, you’ll:
- Provide individualised holistic care (personal hygiene, feeding, mobility)
- Support diversional therapy, assist in end-of-life care, and infection control
- Monitor residents’ conditions, ensuring comfort at night
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow HSE/HIQA regulations
- Adhere to manual handling and hoist policies alongside care teams
Requirements & Qualifications
FETAC/QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support or equivalent (core modules: Care Skills, Older Person care)
Minimum 1 year senior care experience preferred
- Training in manual handling/patient moving
- Strong English (written/spoken) and ability to deliver person-centered care
- Compliant with the infection control, fire evacuation, and health & safety policies
Experience & Training
- Demonstrated care for the elderly, ideally in residential settings
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and refine skills in a supportive environment
- Ongoing professional development is encouraged within the housing training and experiential growth
